Disabled citizens in risk of being abuse

Sadly more cases have been exposed about abuse to our handicap and disabled citizens were they have been marked for life. One of these cases was reported last December when a woman in a vegetative state gave birth. This happened at Hacienda HealthCare in Phoenix, AZ, leaving the community worried about the safety of their patients.

Since then more parents have come forward reporting abuse to their loved ones. Currently, State Rep. Jennifer Longdon has presented two bills, regarding protection to disabled people. Even though it seems to maybe go through, but in some case, it’s already to late.

It’s sad to know how many people have been affected by the actions of a few, there might even be more cases that have been kept in silence and we will never know. Perhaps this new bills can improve the lifestyle and care, but there has to be a mayor change about the concerning health of disabled people, specially in the hiring process on these institutions.

This is not the first time this has happen, when a woman in a 10 year coma gave birth. This happen at New York in 1996, creating a bill called “Kathy’s’ Law”, crating hard sentences to those who broke the law. Sadly it only works in New York, leaving other states free for these sexual predators.

Related to the case regarding a woman in vegetative state, they found her rapist and father of her baby boy, though a DNA test to all the male staff. The man says he is not guilty of the charges. The sad part is that none of the medical staff knew that she was pregnant.

In order for this to not happen again we need to make sure safety comes first and at all cost. It was hard to listen that they did not have any security cameras and most relatives are staying in 24/7 in order to make sure they are safe. We share a video regarding this case.
